Stop Motion Kits for Science Animations

Let your kids see the wonderful side of science while creating spectacular animations and let them learn STEM topics through playing

Children are fascinated about movie making and animation creation which gives the idea to integrate stop motion animation into Science education. We provide ready-to-go animation kits to children, with which they can create spectacular animations in a very short time, within 30 minutes.

With the help of these Stop Motion Science kits, children can learn about different science topics while they animate and have fun without even realizing that they are learning. The kits contain all the necessary elements, scientific explanations and an innovative stop motion app with a built in image stabilization system allowing kids to snap pictures from hand, instead of using a holder, eliminating one of the pain points of stop motion.

THE KITS

PLAYGROUND FOOTBALL

By making the animation children seamlessly learn about the coordinate system, gravity, projectile motion and time units. Using the included rulers along with the how-to guide, they can create realistic ball movement and learn the concept of defining an object's position with coordinates. When they know it inside out, challenge them to create custom rulers and see how the ball flies!

The animation kit consists of one background, two 9-phase characters, two time rulers for different ball speeds and two vertical elevation rulers for ball trajectory. Animation time: 30 minutes, Number of frames: 28.

GIRL SWINGING

By making the animation children seamlessly learn about periodic motion, projection and energy. Using the included position dial, they can create realistic swing movement and learn the concept of defining an object's position with coordinates as well as how circular motion can be converted into linear by following the position dot's horizontal projection.

The animation kit consists of one background, one 3-phase character and a positioning dial. Animation time: 20 minutes, Number of frames: 30.

COMBUSTION ENGINE

By making the animation children seamlessly learn the parts of an engine and the main phases of its operation, the energy cycle. They can add custom captions using pieces of paper and some cutout arrows.

The animation kit consists of one background, two 3-phase valves, one 2-phase spark plug, one flywheel, one piston, one connecting rod and colored beads representing fuel mixture, ignited mixture and fumes. Animation time: 40 minutes, Number of frames: 60.

HEARTBEAT

By making the animation children seamlessly learn the shapes and names of the parts of the human heart and the main phases of its operation. The animation additionally helps to understand topics such as blood pressure, pulse, the function of lungs and the function of valves in general.

The kit contains 3-phase right and left ventricles, 3-phase right and left atria, two hinged atrioventricular valves, 3-phase aorta and pulmonary arteries, blue and red confetti representing the deoxygenated and oxygenated blood Animation time: 30-35 minutes, Number of frames: 15.

WATER CYCLE

By making the animation children get to know the basic process of movement of water on Earth. The animation touches topics such as formation of clouds, evaporation, precipitation (rain in particular), thunderstorm and runoff. For more advanced activities use custom parts to add evapotranspiration, sublimation and plant uptake.

The kit contains a 15-phase cloud, a 5-phased sun, a thunderbolt and blue and white confetti representing evaporation and precipitation. Animation time: 35-40 minutes, Number of frames: 45.

CITY CAR

By making the animation children touch topics such as acceleration, uniform motion and get to know the parallax effect commonly used in animation to add depth as well as they can learn how to design a custom folding car to add to this animation. They can make pedestrians, cyclists, dogs or even a hot air balloon to customize the animation.

The kit contains 1 folding car, 2 trees, 1 animation background with rails, 2 skyscraper strip, 2 facade strip, 1 carriageway with footpath, 2 strips of road marking. Animation time: 30 minutes, Number of frames: 30.

EARTH-MOON SYSTEM

By making the animation children will see how the Earth and Moon move in space, what is the full moon to full moon period, why we see only one face of the Moon, what causes the day and night cycle, what are and why are there time zones. To add Sun to the animation, use a simple spot light and observe the shadows and highlights to learn about solar and lunar eclipse.

The kit contains one folding Earth, one folding Moon, one marked stand for each celestial body, three parts for the 3D background. Animation time: 25-30 minutes, Number of frames: 30

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The step-by-step guide helps you set up the scenes and guides you along the creation process. Every row belongs to a frame. According to the numbers you can find the right characters and place them to the right position. If everything is set, just snap a picture and go on to the next row.

THE SCIENCE CARD

The kits also contain science cards which are for your children. They are child friendly explanations about the specific science topics and can be easily customized. Cut out the figures from the given sheet and glue them to the back of the science card. Kids can collect these cards, put them together and have their own encyclopedia.

STOP MOTION FOR TEACHING SCIENCE? ABSOLUTELY!

Since stop motion animation is a sequence of still images, it is the best way to deeply analyse a process and develop a solid understanding of it by observing the little changes between the frames. On top, stop motion technique develops a bunch of skills you wouldn't think of at a first glance. Here's couple of them:
